The back of the house opens up all across the different rooms connecting the lounge and kitchen/diner with the garden in a way that offers privacy whilst feeling totally integrated into the garden.
Code for sustainable homes level 4 was achieved by high levels of insulation, high quality doors and windows, solar panels for generating electricity and super a efficient boiler.
The site of a former bungalow, Cave applied for planning permission for a new two storey property with a habitable roof space, on a slightly larger footprint than the original building, whilst retaining the existing mature garden and front driveway. One of the key features of the brief was to design a house that looked modern, but was firmly rooted in the history of the plot and the style of the former bungalow, which the clients loved, even though it became too small for their growing family.
Elements of the old bungalow were retained and some of the tiles and floor boards were reclaimed and used again in the new property. The windows were also designed to reflect the traditional style of the previous bungalow, but to be simplified to let in more light and have a slightly more modern feel.
Now completed this new build detached property in Kingston is light, airy and spacious, creating a beautiful family home for our clients.
