New Build Eco Kit House

This project is on an Island in the Thames that regularly floods. The brief from the client was to demolish the existing bungalow and replace it with a new sustainable home, with improved levels of insulation and efficiency. Also providing an extra bedroom and a better, more spacious arrangement of the living quarters.
All raised above the flood level and on a very tight budget. This was achieved by re-siting the bungalow to allow for more passive solar gain from the South. Creating a large double height dining space with adjacent kitchen, leading
onto a sunken lounge with sheltered deck area overlooking the river.
An additional bedroom and en-suite were created by efficient use of space. A mezzanine was added to allow for flood refuge and a home office with amazing views of the river, housed within a central pitched roof. Two beautiful living roofs were added front and back, designed to minimise cost and height also
encourage riverside flora and fauna adding new habitat to the site. The
building itself is a Log Cabin Kit, delivered and erected within 1 month.
